Firefighters Rescue Disoriented Japanese Student off Trail
Publicado - Published: 08/02/2010

HONOLULU (Honolulu Advertiser).- Firefighters assisted a Japanese exchange student off the Waimano Trail last night after she became disoriented while on the trail, firefighters said.

The woman, in her 20s, was unable to call 911 because of her limited English skills, so she called a friend who called 911, said Honolulu Fire Capt. Earle Kealoha.

The call came in about 7:30 p.m. and firefighters hiked in along different trails. Firefighters made voice contact with the woman at 8:05 p.m. and located her five minutes later, Kealoha said.

The student was uninjured and in good spirits, Kealoha said. She was escorted off the trail by firefighters at 8:45 p.m.
