Firefighter Under Investigation for Possible Drug Theft
Publicado - Published: 01/06/2007

SPOKANE.- A firefighter is now under investigation for prescription drug theft by Spokane Police after she was found unresponsive while on duty at a South Hill Fire Station.

The firefighter was on duty at Fire Station 11, located at 32nd and Perry, when some of her co-worker's found her unresponsive. The Fire Department immediately called police after they suspected she may have taken some prescription medications.

While her identity has not been released, the firefighter has been called a 10-year veteran of the department who is married to a Spokane Police Officer.

She has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the police investigation, which will involve the Drug Enforcement Agency.

This is the second time in the last year-and-a-half that an on-duty firefighter's conduct has been called into question for their actions. In February, 2006 Daniel Ross became the subject of a police investigation into his conduct at the Indian Trail Fire Station after he had sex with a minor and took photos of the act while on duty.

Ross subsequently resigned from the department before being terminated. The City of Spokane is now facing a civil suit from the girl Ross had sex with at the fire station. The girl claims the sex was non-consensual, that other firefighters could have but did not stop it and that important evidence in the case was deleted by Spokane Police detectives during their investigation.

The city responded to the suit, filed last December, by saying it was not liable in the case and would "vigorously defend the lawsuit."
